Good morning! Today I have a couple of cards to share that I created using the beautiful Distressed Couture line from Glitz Designs.
This first card is inspired by this week's Mojo Monday sketch # 157 and was made with the following supplies:
- Distressed Couture Blocks (DC2310) patterned paper
- Distressed Couture Titles Cardstock stickers (C2426)
- Black cardstock
- Red ruffle board
- Vintage lace and seam binding
- Heart buttons
To create this card, first make a card base using black cardstock. Next, cut a piece of the newsprint side of the Distressed Couture Blocks paper for the background and stitch around the border using red thread. Cut a piece long rectangular piece of ruffle board and mount a slightly smaller piece of the Distressed Couture Blocks paper to it. Add a length of vintage lace to the right side of the patterned paper and then adhere this piece to the front of the card as shown.
For the sentiment block, cut a piece of black cardstock for the mat, a piece of red ruffle board which has a white border stitched around it, and adhere a length of seam binding between the two pieces. Adhere the sentiment sticker to the top of the ruffle board, and attach a bow made from seam binding to the right of the sentiment as shown. Tuck the ends of the seam binding underneath the background paper after adhering the sentiment block to the front of the card as shown. For the final touch, thread seam binding through the holes of three heart shaped buttons, trim the ends of the seam binding, and adhere the length of buttons to the card front to complete the card.
The second card was inspired by Laura's sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You (rotated 180 degrees) and made with these materials:
- Distressed Couture Polka (DC2846) patterned paper
- Distressed Couture Stripe (DC2204) patterned paper
- Distressed Couture Blocks (DC2310) patterned paper
- Fancy Frames rub ons (RO2091)
- Distressed Couture Titles Cardstock stickers (C2426)
- Red cardstock and ruffle board
- Seam binding
- Heart button
- Pearl swirls
- Martha Stewart Trellis border punch
To create this card, begin with a card made from dark red cardstock. Next, cut a piece of the Distressed Couture Polka paper for the background and sew a border around it using white thread. Punch a border using the red side of the Distressed Couture Stripe paper. Adhere a length of seam binding along the punched border paper and adhere this to the Polka paper.
For the framed sentiment part of the card, use one of the fancy frames rub ons on the
lighter newsprint side of the Distressed Couture Blocks paper. Trim around the frame and
embellish the inside of the rub-on frame using a heart cut out from the red
ruffle board, a bow made from seam binding, and one of the Distressed Couture
cardstock titles for the sentiment. Adhere the frame to the card front as
shown. Finally, embellish the card front with a pearl swirl to complete the
card.
Thank you for joining me today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
